Welcome To Florence Melly Community Primary School

Welcome to Florence Melly Community Primary School.

We pride ourselves here on our ability to teach and nurture the whole child, in order for them to reach their potential in many varied areas.

There is a lovely, caring ethos within the school, and this is further enhanced by the children assuming responsibilities for decision making/supporting fellow pupils, through such organisations as our School Council.

In addition to the above the school has consistently been a high achieving school academically, and has been placed on the OFSTED site for outstanding schools.

Best wishes

At Florence Melly Community Primary School there is a commitment to the highest standards in every area of the school life. All members of the school community are encouraged to achieve their maximum potential within a happy orderly community where:

Pupils are stimulated and motivated

Pupils can flourish and achieve

Pupils’ independence and responsibility are fostered

Every-one is valued and respected

We are committed to enhancing pupils’ experiences and to raising standards of achievement and learning, by adhering to the following School Aims which support our school motto:

“Always trying our best”

School Aims

1. To provide a safe caring, stimulating and happy environment in which the contribution of each individual is equally valued.
2. To provide a stimulating environment in which each child can flourish and develop according to his/her own needs, aptitude and ability- having full access to a broad and balanced curriculum.
3. To enable each child to develop emotionally, socially, intellectually, physically, aesthetically, spiritually and morally, thus preparing him/her for life in the world in which he/she lives.
4. To continue to raise standards in all areas of school life.
5. To set standards of behaviour which are acceptable both inside and outside the school community.
6. To create a group of teachers, who work well as a team, agree an educational philosophy, accept the strengths and weaknesses of other individuals within that team and have as their priority the needs of the children in their charge. To involve the whole staff in the future development and direction of the school.
7. To develop in children a sense of belonging to the school community, with an awareness of the roles and responsibilities that this entails, and furthermore, to acknowledge that the school itself is part of a wider community, towards whom we also have responsibilities.
8. To help parents to understand the aims and objectives of the school and the educational programme their children follow. To emphasise that in the education of children, teachers and parents are engaged in a co-operative undertaking.
9. To treat with all equal respect-regardless of race, sex, creed, colour,
Disability or status-to further the understanding that each person has
and should expect to have, equal rights both inside school and in the
wider community. To foster a knowledge and respect for different cultures and faiths, thus preparing them for the world in which they live, and the world they will encounter in the future.
10. To work together with the governors to create an effective partnership
which is beneficial to the whole school community.
